Following the death of her mother, she lived with her aunt Lillie (Mrs. Andrew Faaborg). She attended school in Meservey, Iowa. When she finished her schooling Marvel worked in homes in the area.

She was united in marriage to Edward Luvern Stadtlander, October 20, 1944, at the First Reformed Church Parsonage in Meservey by the Reverend Kampman. The couple's union was blessed with three sons: Dennis, David, and Darwin. Later aftertheir marriage the couple moved to a farm in the Rockwell-Swaledale area where they farmed and raised their family for 28 years. Marvel was not only a loving spouse and nurturing mother, but was an integral partner with her husband in themany tasks and chores of the farming operation. The couple retired from farming in 1976 and moved into thetown of Sheffield. They enjoyed many years wintering in Arizona prior to Ed preceding Marvel in death on June 6, 1989.

Following Ed's passing away, Marvel continued to live in Sheffield where she enjoyed meticulously caring for her yard, spending time with her family and friends, and remained active in the First Reformed Church in Meservey. As her healthdeclined in more recent times she moved to the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton.

Marvel's life and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of crossing in her life journey. Her family will reflect fondly upon the wonderful years of life on the farm, where she and Edinstilled the values of hard work, faith, and family. They will miss the tantalizing aromas that often met them upon arrival in Marvel's home, as she always prepared many delicious meals including her fried chicken, homemade chocolatecake with boiled frosting, loaded chocolate chip cookies, and numerous other desserts for all who graced her kitchen.
