"Irene G. Ubben, 80

Irene G. Ubben, 80, of Buffalo Center, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at her home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Ramsey Reformed Church, rural Titonka with Rev. Dennis Redeker officiationg. Burialwill be in the church cemetery. The Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Titonka is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Gladys (Gray) Ubben, daughter of Henry and Grace (Huisman) Gray, was born on June 17, 1926 in rural Titonka. Irene attended country school near Titonka completing eighth grade. She then worked as a hired girl, caring for some ofher nieces when they were babies, and helping her brothers when they were bachelors just starting farming.

On March 16, 1945, Irene was joined in marriage to John Ubben at Ramsey Reformed Church in rural Titonka. They farmed southwest of Buffalo Center for thirty-eight years. Irene and John retired from farming in 1984 and moved to BuffaloCenter.

Irene's joy was her family, her husband John, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed nurturing her family and watching them grow. Irene's gift of hospitality and generous loving spirit were shared with familyand friends in her home. Irene enjoyed family vacations and then traveling with John in the retirement years, especially their trip to Alaska. Other favorites of Irene's were her flowers and plants and a general love of the beauty ofnature. Playing Aggravation and Dominoes around the kitchen table was a favorite pastime.

December of 2006 Irene was diagnosed with incurable cancer, entered Hospice in January 2007 and passed away on February 18, 2007. Throughout her life Irene was a faithful followwer of Jesus Christ and an active member of the RamseyReformed Church.

Survivors include son, Verlyn Ubben, and his wife, Marlys, of rural Frost, MN, and thier children, Sarah (husband, Greg Hofland, children, Evan and Makayla), Kari (husband, Nathan Perrine, children Jasmine and Job) Tina, Abby, Christopherand Mark (wife, Abigail, son Isaac); son Ken and his wife, Cheri, of rural Buffalo Center, and their children Kelly, Kirby (fiance [sic], Natalie), and Kristi (husband Jeff Frambach, daughter Samantha); daughter Joyce and her husband, BenDen Hartog, of Estherville, IA and their children, Andrea (husband, Brad Lory), Aaron (wife, Callie) and Adam; daughter Sharon and her husband, Craig Van Kley, of Blue Earth, MN, and their children Kay (husband, Bernie Beigh), Chad(finance [sic], Jaime), and Kurtis (wife, Amanda); and daughter Marlys and husband, Duane Sanders, of Lincoln, NE. She is survived by one sister, Viola, and one brother, Leonard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,John, on September 2006, and one sister Dorothy, four brothers, Henry Jr., Fred, Elmer, Mervin and two brothers in infancy."
