"Elvera Hanson, 88

Funeral services for Elvera Hanson, 88, were held Wednesday, March 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church with Pastor Bill Peake Officiating. Honorary bearers were her nieces and nephews. Casketbearers were Ray Bosma, EarlCavett, Chuck Armstrong and Willie Wubben. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery with the Winter Funeral Home of Buffalo Center in charge of arrangements. Elvera passed away at the Timely Mission Nursing Home on Saturday, March 22, 2008.

Elvera Hanson, daughter of Oltman and Gertie (Smith) Akkerman was born May 1, 1919 in Winnebago County, near Buffalo Center. She grew up in the Buffalo Center area where she graduated from high school.

She was married April 23, 1939 to Walt Hanson. In their early-married years, Elvera owned a dress shop and Walt , a plumbing business. They also lived in several states while working in defense plants. They moved to Boulder, Coloradowhere they managed an apartment house. They belonged to a camping club and loved camping in the mountains in their pickup camper. After retiring, they moved to Buffalo Center to live closer to relatives. They both made Timely MissionNursing Home their home after they could no longer live alone. Elvera passed away at Timely Misson on Saturday, March 22, at the age of 88.

She is survived by her two sisters: Grace Bosma of Buffalo Center and Lois Teigen of Kingman, Arizona. Also by several nieces and nephews and by special friends, Dan and Pat Ziemkovski and their family af Boulder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walt, and two sisters Wilma Stewart of Waterloo, and Jennie Grothie of Lake Mills." <>
