OLTMAN AKKERMAN PASSES AWAY AT BUFFALO CENTER

... He had been sick less than a week, suffering from a grippe which turned into pneumonia, and he passed away at his home south-east of here on Friday afternoon. ... Oltman Akkerman was born at Holland, Iowa, on February 7, 1886. In the year 1898 he moved with his parents from Grundy County to Winnebago County, settling on a farm near here, and he had resided in the community ever since. On February14,
907, he was united in marriage to Gertie Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith of German Valley and to this happy union five daughters were born, namely: (Grace) Mrs. Theo. Bosma Jr., (Jennie) Mrs. Chas Cavett of Buffalo Center;(Wilma) Mrs. Wm. Stewart of Burt; (Elvera) Mrs Walter Hanson of Buffalo Center and Miss Lois at home. Besides his wife and five daughters he also leaves three sisters and five brothers to mourn his sudden departure. They are MikeAkkerman and Mrs. Lub Lubben of Buffalo Center; Mrs. Wm. Smith of Cass Lake, Minnesota; Mrs. August Willaby, and Dick and Thomas Akkerman, all of White, South Dakota; all of whom wre here to attend the services with the exception of onesister, Mrs. Wm. Smith of Cass Lake, Minnesota.

Other relatives out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Akkerman, Ole Akkerman, Mrs. John Englet, Mike Akkerman and Mr. and Mrs. John Akkerman, all of Rock Rapids; Mrs. Dick Claassen, Miss Tillie Akkerman, Mrs. OttaTjaden andMr. and Mrs. Ben Hoekstra, all of Wellsburg; Mr. and Mrs. John DeVries of Chancellor, South Dakota; Nick Hilbrands and Mike Hilbrands, both of Parker, South Dakota; Egge Hilbrands of Lennox, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. JohnKaiser and son Henry of Rock Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Miller of Elgin; Mrs. August Willaby, Mr. Dick Akkerman, Mr. Tom Akkerman, Mr. Willie Willaby, Jr. August Willaby, all of White, South Dakota. ] Pallbearers were Ed Feldick, Roy Leibrand, Hieka Adams, Conrad Schmidt, August Milbrandt and Andrew Harringa."
