Remembering the life of ... Luella H. Dirks, 92, a resident of Pioneer Hertitage Cottage, Fergus Falls, went to be with her Lord on June 20, 2005

She was born on February 22, 1913 in rural Lennox, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Anna (Heyer) Tempel. The family moved with their farming equipment by train to a farm near Twin Brooks, South Dakota when she was six years old.Here she attended country school and Presbyterian Church. She remained at her parental home helping her father with the farming and her mother with household chores until her marriage to Abel Dirks in 1932. The couple married inWatertown, South Dakota.

After their marriage, they lived in Worthington/Rushmore and the Wheaton/Norcross areas of Minnesota. In 1952, they purchased a farm at Pine River, Minnesota. Later, they built a home near the city limits of Pine River and retiredthere. They moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to be near one of their children in 1988. Abel passed away on December 21, 1991. Luella continued to live in the Goldenwood apartments until February of 2004. In June of 2004, she became aresident of Pioneer Heritage Cottage.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, five brother; two sisters; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include four children; LaRie(Harm) Hull of Fergus Falls; Dalton (Maryann) Dirks of St. Cloud; Linda (Billy) Edmondson of Phoenix, Arizona; and Diana (Michael) Raymond of Sun City West, Arizona; ten grandchildren; sevengreat-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law.

A family graveside service and burial will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at 'Wilmot Cemetery, Wilmot, South Dakota. Assistance provided by Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and Cahill Funeral Home, Sisseton, South Dakota."
