Rites held Saturday for George Heyer, 87

Funeral services for long-time Titonka area resident, George Heyer, 87, were held Saturday, January 2 at the Ramsey Reformed church with the Rev. John Janssen officiating. Mrs. Richard Beenken, organist, accompanied Mrs. Herman Ubben, Mrs. Roger Rippentrop, Alvin Hopkes and John Beenken, singers. Blake Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Caskey attendants were Rollo Moore, John Ubben, Harold Ubben, Raymond Baade, Alvin Meinders and Roger Rippentrop. Interment was in the church cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Winnebago American Legion Post Number 21 ofBuffalo Center.

George Heyer, son of Fred and Harmka (Groan) Heyer, was born May 27, 1984 [sic] in Kamrar. He came to this area from Kamrar in 1914. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I.

Mr. Heyer married Gesina Janssen on February 14, 1923 at Ramsey Reformed Church. He farmed in the area and retired in 1959.

He passed away on Tuesday, December 29 at the Hancock County Hospital in Britt.

He was a member of the Winnebago American Legion Post Number 21.

Mr. Heyer is survived by his wife Gesina; five sons, Harvey of Titonka, Lawrence of Mexico, MO, Cecil of Titonka, James of Manchester and Gordon of Kansas City, KS: 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; on sister, Mrs. Kelly (Frieda)Rippentrop of Buffalo Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; on son, Alfred, five sisters and two brothers."
