'Henry moved into the neighborhood which was a ten mile circle in those days. Got to know people at church, parties and dances. H & C were engaged about 10 months before they married. Married in Reformed church parsonage at 2 p.m. withRev. J.H.Schoon officating. Witnesses: Bena Gerdes & John Jutting. First farm was 5 m. south & 1 m. west of Buffalo Center.'

Obituary of Henry Heyer, 85

Woden: Services for Henry Heyer, 85, of Woden, who died Wednesday after a short illness, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Woden Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Bernard Van Ee officiated, using Psalm 91 as his text. Hissermon was entitled "The Man Who Trusts in God". Organist, Mrs. Ernest Van Weelden, accompanied a quartet composed of Harlan Eekhoff, Marvin Hillenga, Paul Tjaden, and John Smidt, who sang "In the Garden" and "Good Night Here and GoodMorning Up There". Ushers were Gerald Redenius and Bobbie Penning. Casketbearers were: Eldon Jutting, Harvey Heyer, William Heyer, Cecil Heyer, Calvin Lee Rippentrop and Lawrence Heyer. The Boughton-Cataldo Funeral Home was in chargeof arrangements, with burial in the Christian Reformed church Cemetery.

Henry Heyer, the son of Federick and Harmka (Groe) Heyer, was born October 14, 1891, at Kamrar. On February 7, 1923, he was married to Christena Jutting at Buffalo Center. They farmed all of their married life north and east of Woden,until retirement in 1951, when they moved into Woden. Henry was a member of the Woden Christilan Reformed Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and his family.

He is survived by his wife Christena; his children, Merle and his wife Dorothy of Arvada, Colo. Mrs. Dean (Iris) Tweed of Marble Rock, and Russell and his wife Kathleen of Windlake, Wisc.; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; onesister, Mrs. Calvin (Frieda) Ripentrop of Buffalo Center; and one brother, George and his wife Gesina of Buffalo Center.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents, a brother, William; and four sisters, Mrs. Ben (Minnie) Van Langen, Mrs. John (Anna) Tempel, Mrs. George (Hattie) Boomgarden, and Mrs. John (Jennie) Ites."
