Josephus-Adrianus (Sjef) Spierings, geboren op 15-11-1901. Hij was wever van beroep en werkte o.a. tot aan zijn 65ste bij Van Den Berg-Krabbendam in Tilburg. Hij trouwde op latere leeftijd met Miet Janssen uit Tilburg. Zij was een dochter van kolenboer Kiske Janssen.

Het echtpaar betrok een woning in de Kloosterstraat, recht tegenover de schoenmakerij van Drik Spierings. Dit huis was eigendom van de ongetrouwde Nella Vekemans die er naast woonde. Later verhuisde Sjef naar de Oude Kerkstraat waar hij een nieuwbouwwoning had gekocht. Het echtpaar bleef kinderloos. Vrijwel elke avond staken zij de straat over naar de schoenmakerij om met Lena Spierings naar de TV te kijken en een bakske koffie te drinken. Sjef Spiierings rookte graag sigaren. Miet Spierings sukkelde al enige tijd met evenwichtstoornissen en zij was niet meer in staat zelfstandig te lopen. Ook haar spraakvermogen werd minder. Toen Sjef Spierings in het ziekenhuis werd opgenomen, kon Miet niet meer zelfstandig blijven wonen en werd opgenomen in het Verpleeghuis in Goirle. Sjef overleed op 17 mei 1978, en Miet op 14 mei 1978. Zij werden samen op dezelfde dag begraven in Goirle.
