Mrs. Jake Hippen died Saturday in the Grundy hospital following a short illness from a heart condition. She was taken to the hospital on Wednesday of last week. News of her sudden death was received with deep regret by all who knew her. The Doyen funeral home had charge of arrangements.

Services were held at 1:30 on Tuesday in the East Friesland church in German township. She had been a long time member of that church. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. The service was conducted by Rev. Lee Feero. Music was by the men's quartet, composed of Ralph Aikes, Vernon Oleman, Orville Wilts and Frederick Fisher. Mrs. Jake J. Lindaman was pianist, Mrs. Virgil Heetland, organist, Mrs. Grace Huisman and Mrs. John G. Abbas had charge of the flowers.

The casket bearers were Alvin Lindaman, Vernon Winters, Marvin Riebkes, Rueben Hippen, Roger Hippen and Frank Luchtenburg.

Mrs. Jake (Mattie) Hippen passed away at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, October 31st at the age of 66 yrs, 11 months, and seven days. Mrs. Hippen was a patient at the hospital at the time of her death.

Mattie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin (Kannegieter) Riebkes was born on a farm in German township near Ackley on Nov. 24, 1897. She united in marriage with Jake Hippen on Dec. 12, 1918. They made their home on a farm for 28 years in German township until they moved to Wellsburg in 1947.

Mrs. Hippen has been a faithful member of the East Friesland Presbyterian church since June 9, 1918.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Riebke and John Riebkes and three infant children.

Those left to mourn her passing are: her husband, Jake, two sons, Delbert and Raymond of Wellsburg; one daughter, Anna Marie, Mrs. Donald Truax of Parkersburg; three brothers and two sisters; Louis and Bert Riebkes of Wellsburg; Jennie, Mrs. Otto Winters of Ackley; Ida, Mrs. William H. Lindaman of Wellsburg; and Henry Riebkes of Ackley and 13 grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
