Rev. Henry Schol, 90, of Gainesville passed away on September 17, 2008. Henry was born to Anna and Cornelius Schol, just outside of George, Iowa on April 27, 1918. He graduated from Northwestern Bible College, Minneapolis, MN in 1947. His preaching career started in 1949 in Hollandale, MN. He pastord several churches in Minnesota and Illinois, before moving to the Clearwater/St. Pete, Florida area in 1954. In Florida he pastored numerous churches throughout the state from St. Pete to Jacksonville. Upon retiring, they moved to Gainesville in the fall of 1985. Here he served as an interim and as a supply pastor for area churches for many years. He enjoyed playing golf with his fellow pastors, and visiting with people.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Temple Schol, his second wife of almost 55 years, Dorothy M. Schol, and grandsons, Greg Schol, Michael Schol, and Stephen Lunsford.

He is survived by children, Marlyn (Hazel) Schol of McApin, Fl.; Duane (Sherry) Schol of Fernandina Beach, Fl.; Kay Lynne Schol of Ocala, FL., Patricia A. Harris of Ventura, CA; Corwin L. (Vivian) Schol of London, England; Ronald (Janet) Schol of Gainesville; Philip (Anne) Schol of Laurel, MD; Mark (LaNita) Schol of Ocala, Fl; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, 1 brother; 2 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:00 am at Ridgeview Baptist Church, 3508 NW 19th Street, Gainesville, with Rev. Bill Davenport officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:30-7:30 at Friday, September 19, 2008 at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ridgeview Baptist Church, Sound System, 3508 NW 19th St., Gainesville, Fl. 32605.
