Interment was at Olena Mound Cemeteryin Buffalo Center with Winter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. ... Dennis Duane Folkerts, son of Menno and Everdena (Meyering) Folkerts, was born March 2, 1957, in Buffalo Center. He was baptized in the Methodist faith at the United Methodist Church in Thompson where he was confirmed and remained amember. Dennis graduated from the Thompson High School.

"Mr. and Mrs. Menno Folkerts of Thompson are the parents of a son born Saturday, October 10 at the Buffalo Center Hospital. His weight was 10 Ibs., 3 ozs., and he has been named Ricky Allen. The Folkerts have two daughters, Donna, 18,and Vivian, 14 years; and three other sons, Gary, 16, David, 11 and Dennis, age 7 years. The grandmother is Mrs. Annie Meyering of Buffalo Center."

Funeral services for Dennis D. Folkerts, 39, of Thompson were held Tuesday. February 11, at United Methodist Church in Thompson. Rev. Jung Sook Kim and Rev. Gary Marzolf officiated at the service. Music was provided by Sherrie Sanderson as vocalist and Cyndy Johnson as the organist. The congregation also sang two hymns. Casketbearers were Brent Butler, John Hill, Larry Meixner, Dan Swearingen, Mark Alphs, Herman Henning, TravisHopkins and Doug Hauan.

He died Saturday, February 8, 1997 at his home. Dennis was 39 years at the time of his death.

He is survived by his three children: Dennis Duane Folkerts Jr. of Forest City; Jacqueline Sue Folkerts of Britt; Curtis Duane Folkerts of Leland; his mother, Everdena Folkerts of Thompson; two sisters: Donna Passmore of North Mankato,Minnesota; Vivian Lara of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; three brothers: Gary Folkerts of Kalamazoo, Michigan; David Folkerts and his wife, Diane, of Thompson; Rick Folkerts of Forest City; one grandchild, Britany, of Crystal Lake and byuncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Menno, on November 11, 1994."
