Anna Heyer, 88, of Britt, IA, died at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt on September 21, 2010

Funeral Services for Anna were held Friday, September 24, 2010 at First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center, IA with Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Burial followed at Olena Mound Cemettery in Buffalo Center.

Casket Bearers were Brian Leerar, Randy Leerar, Jeremy Heyer, Wade Roberts, Sam Leerar, and Cody Leerar.

Honarary Bearers were Lori Benjamin, Jennifer Roberts, Kim Leerar, Tersea Leerar, and Jessica Heyer.

Anna Heyer was born August 6, 1922 on a farm outside of Buffalo Center to Ole and Grace (Meinders) Folkerts. On September 19, 1940, Anna married William Heyer. They were married at the First Reformed Church parsonage by Rev. Everts.They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on September 19, 2010.

After marriage, Anna and William lived on a farm outside of Buffalo Center until moving onto an acreage in 1982, also south of Buffalo Center. They then moved into the town of Britt in June of 1997. While living on the farm, Annaenjoyed gardening and canning.

Anna enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune nightly. She also enjoyed reading, especially the Buffalo Center Tribune, Globe Gazettte, and Cappers Weekly. She enjoyed telling her friends and family the weekly jokes from Cappers Weekly. Annaenjoyed music, particularly old hymns and county.

Anna wa also an avid reader of the Bible. She and William attended church at First Reformed Church wekly until they weren's able due to health, at which point Anna never missed a church broadcast. The radio was the first thingh that hadto be brought to the nursing home.

Due to failing health, Anna moved into Westview Care Center on May 24, 2008. While at the nursing home, she enjoyed playing bingo and the musical entertainment.

Anna loved being with her family. She always wanted her family together for holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anna is survived by her husband, William, of Britt; four children: Judy (Dick) Leerar of Britt; Larry Heyer of Britt; Arlo Heyer of Britt; and Bruce (Debra) Heyer of Clear Lake, IA; grandchildren: Brian (Kim) Leerar of Britt; Randy(Teresa) Leerar of Lee's Summit, MO; Lori (Wil) Benjamin of Chicago, IL; Jeremy (Jessica) Heyer of Boone, IA; and Jennifer (Wade) Roberts o9f Clear Lake; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Henry (Geralding) Folkerts of Britt; sister-in-lawEverdena Folkerts of Thompson, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Menno, and sister Aleta.
