"O. Folkerts, 63, Dies in Ramsey Township June 10

Titonka: Ole Folkerts was born in Oestfriesland, Germany, on Feb. 8, 1879. After a lingering illness, __ died on June 10th, 1942. Thus __ attained an age of 63 years four months and two days.

In 1891 at the age of 12, he migrated from his native Germany to the United States of America with __ parents and settled in Grundy county, Iowa. At the suggestion __ Rev. Kuehne, the Folkerts family left Grundy county in 1902 and settled in Kossuth County upon the farm now operated by Mr. and Mrs. Karl Sunderman for 14 years. Mr. Folkerts lived in Winnebago county for 16 years and farmed __ mile noth of highway No. 9 near Buffalo Center a little more than _ year ago. Mr. Folkerts gave up farming and has since that time been living a mile southwest of the Ramsey Reformed church.

On October 27, 1921, Mr. Folkerts was united in marriage to Miss Grace Meinders. This union was blessed with four children, Mrs. Wm. Heyer, Jr., of Buffalo Center; Menno, Aleta and Henry at home. One sister preceded him in death in America, and two brothers died in Germany. During the ministration of Rev. G. Haken, Mr. Folkerts and his wife became members at the Ramsey church on October 4, 1922. During the latter part of September his health began to fail. He could no longer work as he had in former years. This condition continued until in May he went to Iowa City for an examination. It was found that he had cancer, incurable scourge of our day. He died after weeks of intense suffering. Besides his family no immediate relatives remain behind. The funeral was held at Ramsey Reformed church Saturday afternoon, June 12th, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Schnucker."

OLE FALKERTS PASSES, AT 63

Mr. Ole Folkerts was born in Ostfriesland, Germany on the 8th day of February 1879. After a lingering sickness he died on the 10th day of June, 1942. Thus he attained an age of 63 years, 4 months and 2 days.

In 1891, at the age of 12, he migrated from his native Germany to the United States of America. With his parents he settled in Grundy County, Iowa. At the suggestion of Rev. Mr. Kuehne, the Folkerts family left Grundy County in 1902 and settled in Kossuth County upon the farm now operated by Mr. and Mrs. Karl Sunderman. For 14 years Mr. Folkerts lived in Winnebago County. For 16 years he farmed a mile north of highway No. 9 near Buffalo Center.

A little more than a year ago Mr. Folkerts gave up farming and has since that time been living a mile southwest of the Ramsey Reformed church.
