"Keith A. Heyer, 56, of Buffalo Center, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

A Celebration of Life for Keith A. Heyer was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Larry Doughan, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the First Congregational Church in BuffaloCenter.

Keith Alfred Heyer was born January 22, 1954, to Alfred and Betty (Aukes) Heyer at the Buffalo Center Hospital in Buffalo Center. He attended school in Buffalo Center, Rochester Community College, and Kirkwood College. He was skilled asa certified crane operator working in refineries and on pipelines and was a proud member of Operating Engineers, Locat #49 in Mankato, Minn.

He enjoyed music, played acoustic guitar, sang at weddings and community events, and played blues music on the piano. Keith also enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, boating, fishing, grilling, hiking, camping, and traveling. He alsobaked cinnamon rolls for get-togethers and shelters, and debated politics with anyone who would join him. He was quick-witted with never-ending life stories, jokes, and impersonations that brought smiles and hoots of laughter to others.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Betty Heyer, of Buffalo Center; brother, Kirk Heyer, of Bothell, Wash.; and sister Kathi Nelson, and her husband, Mark, of Buffalo Center. He is also survived by his nephews: Spencerand Reese Nelson, of Buffalo Center; a long-time friend, Ron Helgeland, of Cedar Rapids; and special friend, Donna Fjoser, of Mankato, Minn.; aunts and uncle Donna Aukes, of Woodland, Calif.; Ramona Heyer, of Titonka; Roger and CarolAukes, of Buffalo Center; Jenny Heyer, of Cameron, Mo.; Florence Heyer, of Titonka; Kathy Heyer, of Manchester; and Lois Heyer, of Kansas City; many cousins, and a host of treasured friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Alfred (1958); brother, Kevin (2006); maternal grandparents, Ted and Elsie Aukes; paternal grandparents George and Gesina Heyer; aunts Mary Smith, Marilyn (Harms) Heyer, and Iona (Sachs) Aukes,uncles: Richard Allen Aukes, Edwin Aukes, Harvey Aukes, Kenneth Aukes, Harvey Heyer, Lawrence Heyer, Cecil Heyer, Jim Heyer, and Gordon Heyer." <>
