"Ramna Heyer 1932 - 2022

Ramona Heyer, 89, of Titonka, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 14, 2022. Services weree held at Ramsey Reformed Church rural Titonka [IA] on March 26 at 10:30 a.m. The family received visitors for one hour prior to the service and after the service when lunch was served.

Ramona Mae (Aukes) Heyer was born May 16, 1932, to Ted and Elsie Aukes and raised in Buffalo Center. She attended country school as a child, graduated from BCHS in 1949, and went on to LaJames School of Hairstyling in Mason City. Ramona married the love of her life, Harvey Heyer in 1950 and together they made their home in Titonka.

Ramona's life revolved around her family, home, and community. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought her so much joy and laughter. She treasured each and every moment spent with them. Ramona enjoyed gardening, hosting holidays, cooking, making candy, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and playing games with her grandkids. She loved getting together for coffee and a homemade cookie (chocolate chip or coconut oatmeal being the favorites). You could always count on her to stop whatever she was doing and visit when you sat down with her at the kitchen table.

Ramona was a cheerleader and in choir in high school. She enjoyed all sports, which was a good thing with her kids and grandkids involved in all of them including band and choir. She owned her own beauty shop in Wesley when she was first married, but when she started having children, she became a full-time work at home Mom.

Ramona loved her large vegetable garden but mostly her flowers; roses, peonies and lilacs being her favorites. She loved spending time at the family cabin on Spirit Lake to enjoy family time, the water, and the birds that would visit. She enjoyed both the quiet times and when the cabin was filled to the rafters with "whoever can come". Ramona was an active member of Ramsey Reformed Church and Christian Women's Club blessed by the fellowship and many friendships.

Ramona loved and will be missed beyond words by her children: Steven and Joleen Heyer (Titonka), Craig and Judy Heyer (Titonka), Ronda Heyer (Ankeny), Connie and Larry Doughan (Orange City), Mike and Denise Heyer (Titonka), and Linda Raney (Ankeny). Also, by her 16 grandchildren, and 36 (plus 2 on the way) great grandchildren.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Carol Aukes (Buffalo Center), sisters-in-law, Donna Aukes (Woodland, CA), Florence Heyer (Titonka), Lois Heyer (Kansas City, KS), Kathy Heyer (Manchester) and Jenny Heyer (Altamont, MO), as well as many dear nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

With every birth and every union, the circle grows. Every joy shared adds more love. Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger." - Unknown
