Herman Mayland, 74, of Titonka died Wednesday, February 21, 1990 at the Forest City Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Britt, with the Rev. James Mattson and the Rev. Kim Peterson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.

Casket bearers were nephews, Walbert Mayland, Jr., Stanley Mayland, Edwin Gremmer, Roger Mayland, Rick Mayland, Bill Gremmer, James Gremmer, Keith Mayland, marvin Schutter, John Schutter, Larry Wilson and Michael Wilson.

Cataldo Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mayland was born Feb. 8, 1916, near Titonka to Fred and Etta (Bruns) Mayland. He was baptized, April 15, 1916 at Immanuel Lutheran church, east of Titonka and was confirmed, April 10, 1938. He attended rural schools near Woden. Helived at home and worked for various farmers in the Britt area. In the early 1960's he went to live with his sister, Mrs. Erlene Schutter and her family who resided east of Titonka. In 1978 he moved to the Hancock County Care Facilityin Duncan and in 1987 he moved to the Titonka Care Center.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Britt.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Gremmer and Mrs. Marie Wilson, both of Britt; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ina Mayland of Clear Lake and Mrs. Beverly Mayland of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters."
