BRITT: Funeral services for Fred Ernest Mayland, 87, who passed away Friday morning, November 5 at Memorial Hospital in Britt, where held Monday at the First Lutheran Church, Britt. Pastor Paul Addix officiated. Mrs. Paul Addix,organist, accompanied Mrs. Wuane Hanson and David Tegtmeyer who sang "Take My Hand Dear Father" and "How Great Thou Art". Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Mayland, Ronald Zigler, Norman Roth, Rick Plymesser, James Gremmer, RickyMayland, Daryl Beenken, Marvin Schutter, John Schutter and Michael Wilson. Active pallbearers were Walbert Mayland, Jr., William Gremmer, Roger Mayland, Edwin Gremmer, Keith Mayland and Larry Wilson. Ushers were Charles Conway andRichard Tegtmeyer, Interment was in Evergren Cemetery, Britt with the Boughton-Cataldo Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Fred Mayland, the son of Fredreck and Wilhelmine (Senne) Mayland was born January 13, 1889, in White Lake, S.D. He received his education in South Dakota and Kossuth County rural schools. On January 13, 1915, he was united in marriage toEtta Bruns at the home of the bride's parents near German Valley. They established their home on a farm near Titonka and later farmed near Woden and Britt, until retirement, when they moved into Britt.

The Maylands were members of the First Lutheran Church in Britt, and he served on the Rural District School Board near Woden.

Surviving are three daughers, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Gremmer of Woden, Mrs. Frank (Erlene) Schutter of Titonka and Mrs. John (Marie) Wilson of Britt; four sons, Herman of Titonka, Ben of Clear Lake, Walbert and Lewis of Britt; 22grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Robert Kruse, and Mrs. Eilert Boyken of titonka, Mrs. Marie Kruse of Sibley, and Mrs. Ibe Harms of Wellsburg; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta; three sons, William, Ernest and Donald; two daughters, Engelena and Mrs. Stoffer (Jeanette) Gremmer; one sister, Louise; and three brothers, William, Conrad and Henry." ... <>
