ENGELBY

Egene Roger 'Gene' Engelby, 70, Jefferson City, died Saturday at Charles E. Still Hospital.

He was born March 2, 1919, in Rake, Iowa, a son of Andy and Vollie S. Bjelland Engelby. He was married Sept. 4, 1940, in Frost, Minn., to Dena Marie Sleper, who preceded him in death. He was married June 21, 1969, in Tipton to Margaret E. Cole, who survives of the home.

He was a farmer in northern Iowa from 1940 to 1950, was a seam presser in a pants factory for many years and was an employee of Chesebrough-Pond's Inc. He was a member of Western Hills Assembly of God Church.

Other survivors include: on son, Roger A. Engelby, Jefferson City; one daughter, Verna J. Ellison, Little Rock, Ark.; one stepson, Terry Ray Schmelz, St. Louis; four stepdaughters, Rosie Allen, Betty Mooney, Jacqulyn Hertlein and Shirley Whitmore, all of Pacific; three brothers, Irvin H. Engelby and Vincent D. Engelby, both of Albert Lea, Minn., and Russell W. Engelby, Iowa Falls, Iowa; two sisters, Myrtle J. Johnson, Ottuma, Iowa and June A. Paulson, Granton, Wis.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dulle Funeral Home. The Rev. Buena Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Western Hills Assembly of God Church, Heisinger Lutheran Retirement Home or the charity of the donor's choice."
