"Russell Willis Engelby was born August 12, 1923 at Elmore, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Vollie 'Bjelland' Engelby. He graduated from Scarville, Iowa Community Schools with the class of 1941. Russell served with the United States Army from August 1944, to November 1946, serving 10 months in the South Pacific. He was employed for 26 years as a mechanic with the Algona, Iowa. On July 9, 1977 he was united in marriage to I. Lucille Lambertsen at Gowie, Iowa. They made their home at rural Algona, Iowa and later retiring to Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was a life member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #2541, Algona, Iowa.

Russell is survived by his wife's daughters: Ramona L. Searl and husband Jack of Mound, Minnesota, Becky Embree and husband Wayne of Anomosa, Iowa; grandchildren: Aaron and Amanda Searl of Mound, Minnesota, Phillip and Alec Embree of Anamosa, Iowa; one brother: Vincent of Albert Lee, Minnesota; two sisters; June Paulsen of Granton, Wisconsin, and Myurtle Johnson of Albert Lee, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his wife: I. Lucille Engelby one sister: Caroline Rhoda; and three brothers: Irvin Engelby, Alvin Engelby and Eugene Engelby."

Russell Willis Engelby, 75, of Iowa Falls died of a Heart ailment Tuesday at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital there. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. Burial will be at Coulter Cemetery in Coulter.

Mr. Engelby was born in Elmore, Minn., and lived in Algona before moving to the Iowa Falls area in 1977. He was a retired mechanic with Algona Implement, World War II Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreigh Wars in Algona. He is survived by two stepdaughters, Ramna Searl of Mound, Minn., and Becky Embree of Anamosa; a brother, Vincent of Albert Lea, Minn.; two sisters, June Paulsen of Granton, Wis., and Myrtle Johnson of Albert Lea; and four step-grandchildren. Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is handling arrangements."
