Margaret Schmelz Engelby, nee Cole, 93, Pacific, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2006.

Mrs. Engelby was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Robertsville, the daughter of James Cole and wife Ethel, nee Pursley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Engelby; one son, Terry Schmelz; one brother, Lester Cole; one granddaughter, Patricia Mooney; and one great-great-granddaughter, Dianna Whitmore.

Mrs. Engelby is survived by four daughters, Betty Mooney, Jackie Hertlein and husband Ed, Shirley Whitmore, all of Pacific, and Rosalene Allen and husband Don, Washington; one stepson, Roger Engelby and wife Jerry; one stepdaughter, Verna Ellison and husband Jim; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her best friend, Sue Long; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 19, at Bell Funeral Home, Pacific.

Interment was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Pacific.

Memorials to the Visiting Nurse Association, 9450 Manchester Road, Suite 206, St. Louis, MO 63119 are preferred.
