Barbara Ann Swieter, age 81, of Hampton, Iowa, was born the daughter of Theodore and Grace Naber Epple on July 7, 1931, in Mitchell County Iowa. She received her education from the country schoolhouse near her home.

Barbara was united in marriage with Harvey Elvin Swieter, on March 7, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa. They first made their home on a farm in rural Iowa Falls, Iowa, and later on a farm in rural Hampton, Iowa. Barbara was a loving wife and caring mother.

Barbara accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior on August 22, 1943, through John 6:47, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." at the Hitesville Bible Conference. She was in fellowship with the Christians that gather at the Hitesville Gospel Hall.

Barbara died Friday October 5, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, from injuries sustained from an accidental fall. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harvey Swieter on February 5, 2008; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Peck; parents, Theodore and Grace Epple; four sisters, Jene Scott, Kathleen Harms, Arlene Axiotis and Yvonne Scott; and three brothers, Wayne, Ross and Orrie Epple.

Barbara is survived by: three sons, Russell (Angela) Swieter, Des Moines, Iowa, Wesley (Sherrill) Swieter, Ackley, Iowa, and Irvin (Barbara) Swieter, Parkersburg, Iowa; three daughters, Jolene (Duane) Peck, Edgewood, Iowa, Leona (Burt) Snipes, Tijeras, New Mexico, and Marlene (Daryl) Walvatne, Hawkeye, Iowa; 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; one sister, Lois (David) Novak, Highland, Wisconsin; a brother-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Swieter, Clarion, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Lois Epple, Grants Pass, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Hitesville Gospel Hall rural Aplington, with burial in Saint Peters Evangelical Cemetery in Geneva.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, (319)346-1534, and one hour before services at the hall.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
