Harvey E. Swieter was born on Monday; March 23, 1925 in Iowa Falls; Hardin County, Iowa. He was the son of Dick and Grace [Meyer] Swieter. Harvey completed his education at the Grant Center School. After his education, he began his farming career, which he continued until the age of 81. As well as farming in the Iowa Falls, Iowa and the Hampton; Franklin County, Iowa areas. He engaged in carpentry and electrical work. He was known in his neighborhood as a reliable helper. Harvey was saved in March 1939. He accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ, as his personal Savior through the truth of John 3:16 while doing farm chores with his cousin: John Boyenga. He gathered with the Christians at the Hitesville Gospel Hall in rural Aplington; Butler County, Iowa. On March 7, 1950, Harvey was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Epple in Waterloo, Iowa at the home of Oliver Smith. To this union three sons and three daughters were born: Jolene (Duane) Peck of Edgewood, Iowa; Leona (Burt) Snipes of Tijeras, New Mexico; Russell (Angela) Swieter of Des Moines, Iowa; Marlene (Daryl) Walvatne of Hawkeye, Iowa; Wesley (Sherrill) Swieter of Ackley, Iowa; and Irvin (Barbara) Swieter of Parkersburg, Iowa. Harvey Swieter, age 82, of rural Hampton, Iowa passed away on Tuesday; February 5, 2008 at the Mercy Medical Center, Mason City; Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife of 57 years: Barbara. His six children, his twenty grandchildren and his twelve great grandchildren. His sister: Marian Meinberg of Cedar Falls; Black Hawk County, Iowa and his brother: Robert (Shirley) Swieter of Clarion; Wright County, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: John, Kenneth, and Carl. Also an infant granddaughter: Elizabeth Peck. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday; February 7, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 11:00 a.m. on Friday; February 8, 2008 at the Hitesville Gospel Hall in rural Aplington, Iowa. Interment will be the Saint Peter's Cemetery in rural Geneva; Franklin County, Iowa. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website.
