JAN het aan Paarl Gimnasium gestudeer en later as `n ingenieur bekwaam Hy het eers trekkers verkoop en het toe kontoer-walle asook damwalle gemaak, meestal in die Weskaap. ( Waar `n mens deur die Koeberg ry sien jy sy nalatenskap ) Hy het ook `n draai in VSA gemaak en swaar grondverskuiwings-toerusting ingevoer vir paaie en mynbou vir`n Mnr Barlow (van daar die Barlows maatskapy), Jan was nie `n kantoor mens nie en het bedank. Hy was met Edith Naayman getroud ,( dv. Naayman wat gedros van verbygaande skip en later burgermeester van Kaapstad geword het.) Uit die huwelik is een seun, Jan, geboreen is tans `n ingenieur in Springvale, VSA. Hulle het ook twee kinders aangeneem , Nils en Astrid. Later het oom Jan Durbanville gebly en `n Plaas op Robertson gehad. Daarna het hy die uitleg van Melkbosstrand ( ou Melkbos tot by Koeberg (Duinefontein) saam met sy broer Fanie gedoen en ook met die bou van Seapark te doen gehad. Nadat Edith oorlede is trou hy met Kay ? en nadat Kay oorlede is trouhy op 13 Des 1981 met my ma Ans Dreyer (van oorl.Hugo D) . Oom Jan ( Pa Jan) is in die siekeboeg van Seapark op 10 Apr 2010 oorlede.
