Anna Elizabeth Hugo was die oudste van die dertien kinders van die Paarlse wynboer Jacob Hugo (geb 19 Oktober 1821 op Plessis-les-Merle in Groot Drakenstein, oorl 1871) en sy vrou Rachel Charlotta ROSSOUW (geb 1832, oorl 9 September 1903) met wie hy op 7 Oktober 1849 in die Paarl getroud is. Skrynend genoeg, word tien van Anna Elizabeth se twaalf broers en susters aangedui as “jonk oorlede” (Hugo Familieboek), onder meer haar jongste boetie Jacobus Stephanus geb 27 Maart 1871 wat op sesjarige ouderdom op 3 Augustus 1887 “as skoolseun aan sy moeder se woning in die Paarl” oorlede is (die pa is reeds in die jaar van sy geboorte oorlede). Anna se pa, Jacob Hugo, was die seun van Daniel Hugo, wat op 23 Oktober 1772 gebore is op die plaas De Lieffde in die Land vanWaferen, as derde van die vier seuns van Jacobus Hugo en Anna Rosseau. Jacobus Hugo, seun van Jacques Hugot .

Oloff en Anna Dreyer vernoem dan uiteindelik hulle plaas in die Paarl na die Hugo’s se ou familieplaas en hul seun (my oupa) na haar vader en sy oorgrootjie Jacques Hugot. Die naam “De Lieffde” is na alle waarskynlikheid, soos so baie ou plaasname, oorspronklik afkomstig van die name van skepe wat in die vroee jare in die Kaap aangedoen het. Jan van Riebeeck noem in sy dagboek in ‘n inskrywing op 28 Nov 1655 (Vol 1: 361) ‘n Engelse skip van hierdie naam (in ‘n brief van 29 Oktober 1655 noem hy dat haar naam de Love offte Lieffde was) waarop meer as die helfte van die bemanning Nederlanders was.
