Hy boer eers in die Koeberg waar hy grootgeword het, maar trek dan, rondom 1880, Paarl-toe (waarskynlik vir die skoling van sy kinders) en boer daarna met druiwe op hulle plaas De Lieffde in die Paarl – waar die NG Kerk Paarl-Vallei, sy voormalige pastorie en die kerksaal vandag staan. Die grense van hierdie plaas het gestrek van die Hoofstraat af berg se kant toe, aan die een kant begrens deur die huidige Pleinstraat en aan die ander kant vermoedelik deur die huidige Olyvenstraat).

Hy. trou op 7 April 1873 met Anna Elizabeth HUGO (geb 21 Des 1851, oorl 6 Jan 1904 op wynplaas De Liefde in Paarl) Saam begrawe in Hofstraat-begraafplaas Paarl. Hy is later getroud met BOSMAN (geen kinders)

Op Vrydag, 2 Mei 1924, is aan zein woning te Noorder Paarl overleden de heer Oloff Johannes Truter Dreyer. Hij heette zo naar sijn grootvader, de heer O.J. Truter, in leven koopman in de Kaapstad en Konsul voor de Nederlanden, die ook de moeder-gemeente in de Groote Kerk als ouderling heft gediend. De Truters waren een vroom geslacht, dat zich sowel in de Kerk als in de Staat verdienstelik heftgemaak. De 


Dit is dus via Johanna dat die name Oloff en Claris in die familie inkom. Johanna en Andries vernoem hul oudste dogter na Johanna se moeder: Catharina Geertruida Clarissa b3c2d4e2f2, asook hul jongste seun: Jacob Claris b3c2d4e2f11. Johanna en Andries vernoem hul tweede seun na haar vader Oloff Johannes TRUTER, “in leven koopman in de Kaapstad en Konsul voor de Nederlanden, die ook de moeder-gemeente in de Groote Kerk als ouderling heft gediend” (uit die doodsberig van sy kleinseun OJT Dreyer hieronder). Volgens die rekords van die Wynberg Kerkhof is Johanna se vader Oloff Johannes Truter daar begrawe: Oloff Joh. Truter oorl. 1841 (groot grafkelder ) ere scriba v.d. gemeente, seun van Sir John Truter eerste hoofregter v.d. Kaap. Ander lede van Truter fam. O.a. Oloff John. Jreerste dopeling van die gemeente 1829.
