Pete attended public school at Fairfield, Oregon. He afterwards took preparatory and degree work in the Engineering School at Oregon State College graduating in March 1922. He worked on bridge construction for a number of years with the Oregon State Highway Bridge Department and on construction and maintenance for the Eugene Water and Electric Board until retirement December 31, 1960. Pete spend 5 1/2 years in the military service in Mexican Border service, WWI and WWII. He was commissioned in 1917 and was retired as a Major U.S. Army Reserve in 1955.
