She married Peter Schaap inJuly 1927, and they lived in the small house that her parents had firstlived in when they moved to Austinville. Pete had also been teachingcountry schools, having taught in the Island Grove School and the school1 mile north of Austinville.
They lived with and worked for Paul Abkes on the farm south ofAustinville for 1 year. They then moved to Austinville and livedupstairs in the house owned by Pete's parents who lived downstairs. Peter's mother died in 1933 and then the family movedin with Peter's father in the fall of 1933. In 1942 they purchased andmoved to an acreage in Aplington. Although living in Aplington, theycontinued their active membership in the Austinville Christian ReformedChurch.
