Sarah was the sixth child (out of ten) of John and Margaret Jansonius.She was born on the family farm at Island Grove, Ackley ,Iowa March 31,1886. She attended the Island Grove school. As a young adult she becamea sales clerk at a store in Austinville, Iowa. It was there that she mether future husband, John L. Limburg, of Austinville. Sarah and John weremarried Oct. 15, 1915. A new home was built for them. John and Sarahbecame charter members of the Austinville Christian Reformed Church.(Incidentally this church was the first English speaking church of thatdenomination west of the Mississippi River.) Son, Henry Homer, was bornJuly 15, 1917, and a few years later daughter, Mabel Marguerite, was bornon Sept. 27, 1921.
For better economics the family moved to Hollandale, Mn. and John triedtruck farming for two years. Frequent dust storms proved too much, andso the family returned to Austinville briefly until a house in Ackleycould be secured. The house at 108 Butler was rented and a few yearslater bought. There was a period of two years when the family lived withGrandmother Margaret Jansonius. as she needed care. However , the houseat 108 Butler became the family home, and John and Sarah remained therethe rest of their lives.
Strangely, John began learning the shoe repair trade while doing producework in Wellsburg. Later, getting tired of commuting between Ackley andWellsburg, John set up a shoe repair shop in Ackley , remained at thisbusiness the remainder of his life.
Sarah liked gardening and the raising of flowers. She belonged to theAckley Garden Club. She loved music and sang in the Ackley Presbyterianchoir. Many hours were spent playing and singing hymns at the piano. Shewas a Sunday School teacher. She was "close" to her sisters; and if theylived far away, she wrote letters.
John had many interests. He loved traveling, photography, antiques, rockcollecting, discussing religion, politics, etc. with friends who stoppedat the shop. Inwardly John was proud of his children. Both he and Sarahhad many friends.
