In the above referenced document, John Brown is chronicled in Part Two ( the Ancestors and Descendants of Jacob (Braun) Brown, the Wagonmaker). There, he is identified as (1-7) JOHN BROWN, b. ca. 1767, Rowan Cty, N.C.; d. after 22 Sep 1830 in Surry Cty, N.C.; m. Molly.
In Part Two, page VII (pdf page 390), the children of [[Braun-1406|Johan Jakob Braun]] and [[Goettgen-1|Elisabetha Goettgen]] are enumerated. John, their 7th child, is (1-7).
His story begins on Part Two, page 113 (pdf page 510): '''CHAPTER VII, THE DESCENDANTS OF JOHN BROWN, Son of Jacob Brown, Senior.

'''Birth Discrepancies* "the Ancestors and Descendants of Jacob (Braun) Brown, the Wagonmaker" puts his birth about 1767 and the birth of his son about 1780. While an age of 13 is possible, it is highly improbable.*1760/1765 ''Imported only 1760 from Birth Date and marked as uncertain.''

===Notes===: At one time John Brown owned at least 775 acres of land along Hunting Creek. A community named Cycle developed nearby, but later when the Cycle post office closed (in the 1960s) the address became Hamptonville. John's property was in the very southwest area of Surry County (later became Yadkin County in 1850 when Yadkin County was formed from the southern half of Surry County). The land is now (2014) in North Buck Shoals Township.
: The Felts and Oliver families lived in Wilkes County very near John's property in Surry County. William and Susannah (Oliver) Felts are buried in Wilkes County on private property less than 5 miles from what was John Brown's land.
: John's property included what is now Brown Road and probably included the land east from where Little Hunting Creek (labeled Dobbins Creek on mapquest) came into Hunting Creek (labeled North Little Hunting Creek on mapquest), bordered on the south by Hunting Creek. The land is partially wooded in 2014, however most was farmed in the past. The only wooded area in the 1950s was in the creek bottom - about 50 yards out from the creek (where it would flood). It is not known where John's home was on the property. Over time that information has been lost.
: Brown Road originally started at about where the Oak Grove Baptist Church is located at the corner of old 421 and Windsor Road. When the new 421 was constructed an exit was made and Windsor Road was created. There previously was a Windsor Road south of Brown Road also. Part of the original Brown Road is now Windsor Road and Brown Road now starts off of Windsor Road and runs to Buck Shoals Road. John Brown's land did not extend all the way to Buck Shoals road though.
: There was a huge boulder called the “Rock” on the northside of Hunting Creek on John's land. John's descendants fished from and jumped for swimming from this boulder. There was another huge rock that had a small cave under it that the kids went in when it was raining and sometimes would fall asleep in the cave. When Windsor Road was created in the 1990s a bridge was built over Hunting Creek. The northeast pylon supporting this bridge is right where this boulder and cave was located. Some of the boulder is still there, but the rock with the cave was destroyed. Joe Brown and his siblings still own 20 acres including the boulder site. Their property is along Windsor Road (about 1 acre on the west side and the rest on the east side north from the creek) which is rectangular in shape extending from Hunting Creek all the way to Brown Road bordered by Brown Branch on the south. Joe heard his grandfather speak of a family cemetery on the property, but there are no known gravestones and the location of the cemetery has been lost to time.Interview of Joseph "Joe" Roger Brown (in 2014)
: John Brown's son, James, took over the farm. James descendants lived at these various places on the original plantation farm property (references are road numbers existing in 2014):
:: James Henry Brown about at 5301 Brown Road. :: James Clyde Brown in a tin roof home about at 5301 Brown Road
:: Lamar Brown at 1138 Brown Road:: James Henry Brown 88 acres was both sides of Brown Road from just west of Windsor Road to 1138 Brown Road; Mr. Shores owned the land on the west side of James Henry Brown's land.
