== Biography ==Abraham Braun (later Brown) was born 08 Mar 1743 in Lancaster County, Pa., baptized in Muddy Creek Lutheran and Reformed Congregation in that County, 10 Apr 1743. [https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/22618007?h=132fe6 Baptism Record] He was the son of Johann Stephan Christian Braun and Maria Eva Hamen Braun of Ruschberg, West Germany.

Migrated to Rowan County, NC in the 1750's.
Married Jan 27, 1769 [https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/22617989?h=e2d96b Marriage Record] to Mary Hardmon, daughter of Herman Hardmon.

In 1793 he obtained a land grant of 295 acres from the State for a price of approximately 150 shillings . On this property he built his home as well as a gristmill. It is believed that he built the mill long before he purchased the property.
