Oom Jan Nonkes

Na deze twee half broers van mijn moeder ben ik vernoemd, van oom Jan Nonkes weet ik nog dat hij op mijn vijftiende verjaardag is overleden. Hij was geboren op 18 november 1893, en overleden op 9 januari 1957. Hij werkte als aardappel commissionair om deze voor inkoop te keuren. Zijn eerste vrouw was Jacoba Cornelia Strijker die in het kraambed van het vijfde kind is overleden. Daarna is hij getrouwd met Jansje Timmer die geboren is op 14 december 1899 en overleden op 29 december 1991 te Schoonoord. Met haar heeft hij nog drie kinderen gekregen, Geesje, Jantje en Klaas. Met een van zijn dochter Jantje Bos-Nonkes hebben we nog regelmatig contact die getrouwd was met Reinder Bos te Noord Sleen en ook overleden.
Jantje woont thans in Emmen.

Met zijn gezin heeft Jan Nonkes op nr C68a en C114 te Valthe gewoond.

In het jubilieumboek van Valthe 1217-2017 staat een foto van de eerste telefoon aansluitingen in Valthe (zie ook foto). Dat Lukas Vos een telefoon aansluiting had in zijn hotel/cafe was bekend, maar dat Jan Nonkes als Commissionair ook een van de eerste telefoon aansluitingen had was nog niet bekend.
