Dirk werd vernoemd naar zijn grootvader van moederís kant (nadat een oudere broer Dirk een jaar eerder was overleden). Hij was architect B.N.A. en mede-eigenaar bij architectenbureau Verloop & van der Meij. Hij was lid van het college van kerkvoogden en vervulde diverse functies verbonden aan de plaatselijke Rabobank. Ook was hij lid van de commissie van beheer van de Hervormde Scholen. Woonde na hun trouwen op Bestevaerweg 1 (welk pand door het bouwbedrijf van zijn vader was gebouwd in 1927) en later Zeewg 47 (nu Hogeweg 8). Hij is de enigste van de zes broers die de leeftijd van 70 jaar overschreed.
