Notes about Jannetje Dirksdr KRUYT


Zij kwam ook uit een groot gezin - met tien kinderen - en was ook, net als Johannes, de jongste. Haar vader was kapitein ter koopvaardij (bark ìSchoonderlooî). Ook van moederís kant had ze ìzeebenenî want zowel haar grootvader Jacob Parlevliet en oom Floris waren kaptitein ter koopvaardij, de laatste was later ook reder. Haar moeder overleed toen ze amper een jaar oud was (op 40-jarige leeftijd; mogelijk in het kraambed van het volgende kind ..?) en haar vader acht jaar later. Over evt. voogden is vooralsnog niets bekend.
Van haar stond bekend dat ze niet gefotograveerd wilde worden. Dit is haar gelukt, m.u.v. van ËËn foto (zie hieronder). Vandaar dat er van haar grote gezin geen groepsfotoís gemaakt zijn. Andere (grote) Katwijkse gezinnen toentertijd deden dit wel. Haar afbeelding is een hand-ingetekende prent en vergroting uit onderstaande groepsfoto (in de Zuidstraat ca. 1923) die na haar overlijden gemaakt is.
Het was in die tijd - zeker daarvoor en ook wel daarna - vrij normaal dat vrouwen 10 tot 15 kinderen baarden. Zolang de moeder gezond was kwam na een jaar of twee weer de volgende baby. Soms was het oudste kind meer dan 20 jaar ouder dan de jongste. Veel kinderen stierven op jonge leeftijd en helaas soms ook de moeder in het kraambed van de laatstgeborene.
NB: de bekende Katwijkse achternaam Kruyt wordt vaak verschillend gespeld (Kruijt/Kruit). In deze stamboom is consequent Kruyt aangehouden.
