Notes about Arie KUYPER

Obituary from the Boyden Reporter, Thursday, August 11, 1910: DIES OF HEART FAILURE: Our people were shocked last Thursday afternoon to hear that Arie Kuyper had died at one o'clock of heart failure at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arie VerDoorn, south of town, where he and his wife have been staying since they came back from Pella. Mr. Kuyper has been sick for a long time but recently has been feeling better and he and Mrs. Kuyper had planned a trip to Washington in a few days. He was taken with severe pains about midnight Wednesday and a physician summoned, who remained with him till morning and did all that was possible for him. At noon he insisted that his wife should go and eat her dinner so she went, and when she returned she sent her daughter to her dinner. After a little she noticed that he seemed to be laying in an uneasy position and she asked him if she had better not change the pillows at his back and he said that he believed that it would be better. As she was changing his position he passed away without a struggle and had gone before the family could reach his room from the dinner table.

Mr. Kuyper was 51 years, 2 months and 4 days of age and has been a resident of our community for many years holding the esteem and friendship of all of his neighbors who now deeply sympathize with the family in their great bereavement. The funeral services were held at the Dutch Reformed church Tuesday and the remains laid to rest in the Boyden cemetery by the side of two adopted children who have proceeded him to rest.
Notes from census:
