Notes about Pieter KUYPER

In 1880 Pieter is listed at the Iowa Hospital for the Insane. Pieter is the only child not pictured in our family history books.
From Linda, who found listings for burials the Oakwood Cemetary: "Pieter is shown with an incorrect birth year of 1885, rather than 1835. The day of death is correct. He is in Oakwood Cemetery, also Jannigje is shown in the addition section written in the year 1989. She is in Oakwood. Maybe little Martha is there as well, but she is not recorded. Jannigje is shown as Jeanette Kuyper, died 15 Aug 1921, 83 y 9 m 12 d. Oakwood. This section has been added because of researchers and obit information.
From the Iowa GenWeb Project: Bringing with them their thrifty and industrious habits, their sturdy social customs, and their church relationships, the early members of the Kuyper family in America came from the Netherlands, and in 1849 became a part of the Holland colony of Pella, Iowa. In this organization of substantial farmers and upright citizens Peter Kuyper, the first, was a leader, and the grandfather of Louis A. Kuyper, who is part owner and manager of the extensive lumber yards at Pella, the most important in Marion County.

Obit: Pella Chronicle, Thursday May 28, 1903. Death of P. Kuyper - P. Kuyper, who has been quite ill for some time, was brought to the home of his son, A. N. Kuyper, in this city, where he died last Sunday evening. The deceased was 67 years and 8 months old. Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Van Westenburg and Rev. Van Kersen.

Pieter Kuyper, listed in the 1880 census indicates hopitalizaton for Dementia, having had two attacks, at this hospital for 13 years, (about 1867, at age 32, shortly after the birth of Marie (b 1866), but before birth of Arie P. So, is he the father of Arie P/)
