"Tirrel, John F. - Ruth Schrick

John F., the son of Frank F. and Ella Wieman Tirrel, married Ruth, who was the daughter of Behrend (Ben) and Martha Kruse Schrick. The couple were graduates of the local school and Ruth was quite an outstanding basketball player, even receiving a special write-up in the «u»Des Moines Register«/u». John operated the Star Lunch Cafe in town starting in 1939"

"and a picture of it appears in this book. He was called to military services in the November draft quota in 1942 and served in Europe. He was discharged in 1946. Ruth was working during that time as a rural school teacher. They owned the Tirrel Lumber Yard from 1948 - 1962. They then moved to Sioux Falls. They have two children: JoLynn and Frank (Frankie) and 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren."
