Debra Ann Behrends, age 59, of Waterloo, Iowa, was born the daughter of Donald Ellsworth and Ann Marie (Hippen) Truax on December 10, 1955, near Wellsburg, Iowa.

She grew up in Parkersburg, received her G.E.D. and attended Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo, Iowa.

Debra worked as a Machinist at Powers Industry Manufacturing in Waterloo for many years. She also worked as Nurses Aid in the local area. Through the years she had moved and worked in Custer, South Dakota and Phoenix, Arizona before returning to Iowa.

She enjoyed raising and tending to flowers and her house plants. She enjoyed listening to most music, especially country rock.

Debra died Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Truax; step-father, Larry Card; and one brother, Terry Truax.

Debra is survived by one son, Shawn (Angie) Behrends of Parkersburg; one daughter, Angie Bechtel, Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Alexis and Sierra Behrends and Joanna, Krista and Brandon Bechtel; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Adelynn; her mother, Ann Card of Parkersburg; three brothers, Keith (Pam) Truax of Waterloo, Lonnie (Linda) Truax of Cedar Falls and Scott Truax of Waterloo; and two sisters, Sandy Truax and Sherri Truax both of Phoenix, AZ.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home (319) 346-1534, with burial at the Oak Hill Cemetery both in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
