George W. Geese, 85, Fresno, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Rose Lawn nursing home, West Lafayette.

He was born Aug. 16, 1874, in Coshocton County, a son of Christopher and Hannah Philabaum Geese. On July 4, 1898, he was married to Mary Schumaker, who survives, with three daughters, Mrs. Earl Lahm, Sugarcreek, Mrs. Glenn Zimmerman,Fresno, and Miss Della Geese, Coshocton; six sons, Victor, Harry and Russell, Fresno, Joseph of Huntington, Ind., Ray of Dover and Max of Marion, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Two sons, two brothers and five sisters are deceased.

He was employed by the Wheeling and Lake Erie railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1936. He was a member of the Fresno Methodist church.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Fresno Methodist church with the Rev. D. L. Sprague, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Fresno. Friends may call at the Bonnell funeral home, West Lafayette, this eveningand Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. 2 Change Date: 18 Sep 2014 ...
