Funeral service for Jennie Dontje, 94, of Buffalo Center, was held today (Tuesday) at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center. She died Nov. 26, 1999, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. Rev. Bill Peake of-ficiated.

Carole Kettwick served as soloist and Marlene Krull was organist. Honorary pallbearers were Sharon Yell, Dennis Dontje, Debbie Sherman, Madonna Kettwick, Darvin Kettwick, Monica Millsap, Doug VanDerZwaag, Brian VanDerZwaag.

Casket bearers were Gary Dontje, Steve Dontje, David Dontje, Brent VanDerZwaag, Mike Kettwick and Wayne Kettwick. Burial was in Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center.

Jennie Dontje, the daughter of John and Diederike (Wiegmann) Troff, was born Aug. 29,1905, in Kamrar. As a child she attended school in Ledyard.

March 12, 1926, she was united in marriage to Herman Dontje at Blue Earth, Minn. After their marriage they farmed near Gerled. They moved to a farm near Buffalo Center in 1948. In the early 1960s the couple moved to Swea City. After her husband's death in 1967 she moved to Buffalo Center, in 1968. Dontje enjoyed taking trips with her family and also doing crochet work. She liked to work in her garden and grew flowers and plants. In September of 1994 she moved to the Titonka Care Center. In July of 1996 she became a resident of Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Survivors include her children, John Dontje and his wife, Leona, of Estherville, Arnold Dontje and his wife, Velma, of Buffalo Center, Deloris and her husband, Harold Kettwick of Buffalo Center, Janice and her husband, Gary VanDer- Zwaag of Hospers; a son-in-law, Jerome Millsap of Estherville; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Dontje of Forest City; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Fink and Opal Troff; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Donald Dontje: a daughter, Martha Millsap; one grandson; one great grandson; one sister; and five brothers.
