Benjamin Simons III was born September 10, 1737. Baptized by the Rev. Mr. Thomas Hasel. He married first Elizabeth Allston, the daughter of Esther Marion and John Allston. Their only child died in infancy. After Elizabeth Allston death he married Catherine Chicken, daughter of George Chicken and Lydia Child, in 1764 and they had nine children. Benjamin Simons III and Catherine Chicken are interred at Pumpkin Hill.

To be let, the Plantation & Ferry in St. John's Parish, Berkeley, Berkeley County, South Carolina, commonly called and known by the Name of the Strawberry, whereon is a good Dwelling-House and other Out-Houses, a Garden and about 80 or 100 Acres of cleared Land, fir for Corn and Indigo; a Horse Boat, and two Negro Men to attend the Ferry; There is also on said Place, a Mile Course, and a large convenient Stable with proper Stalls for Horses.
