(Death & Marriage Notice)
On Saturday morning last a duel was fought, near Wallace's Bridge, by Colonel Maurice Simons, of this City, and Mr. William Clay Snipes of the Round 0, when it unfortunately happened that the former fell. His remains were brought to town on Sunday last, and yesterday evening interred in the family burying ground in St. Phillips Churchyard, attended by a very large con course of relations, friend s and acquaintances. As a friend, a good citizen, a kind and loving husband, an affectionate father, a loving brother, a good Christian, he is sincerely regretted and lamented by all who ever had the pleasure of being acquainted with him.
How lov'd ! how valued once avails thee not
To whom related, by whom begot;
A heap of dust alone remains of thee,
'Tis all thou art, and all the proud shall be.
