Notes about Hielke "Hielke Hendericus" Kramer

Hielke is de enige van de kinderen van Hendrik en Regine die niet honkvast was. Hij is in dienst geweest bij de Luchtmacht in Nijmegen en Leeuwarden. Ook heeft hij gewerkt op het hoofdkantoor van de P.T.T. in Den Haag. Dat hij niet gebonden was aan Joure bleek al gauw toen hij emigreerde naar Australië waar hij in Sydney werk vond.
Tijdens zijn diensttijd had hij kennis gemaakt met een Jouster meisje. Annie Zoetemeijer woonde wel in Joure, maar was geen echte Jouster. Zij was geboren in Duitsland. Het werd haar hier toch wat te eenzaam en ze ging Hielke achterna naar Australië. In Sydney, in Elisabeth Bay, trouwden zij. Na wat omzwervingen en verschillende baantjes rond Sydney, waar ondertussen twee dochters geboren waren, keerden zij terug naar Nederland. Eerst hebben zij bij Penninga's molen gewoond, maar al gauw verhuisden zij naar Snikzwaag. Ook hier is weer een dochter geboren. Hielke werkte toen als winkelchef bij De Gruyter in Sneek. Na de ruimte van Australië bleek Nederland toch te klein en emigreerde de familie weer naar Australië. In Sydney en Hornsby (waar hun vierde dochter werd geboren) hebben zij weer een bestaan opgebouwd. Hielke ondermeer als groenteboer en makelaar, en Annie als beheerder van een postkantoor. Uiteindelijk verhuisden zij naar Lismore, waar de meeste inmiddels getrouwde kinderen, tenminste voor Australische begrippen, dichtbij woonden.
