Funeral services for Dorothy (Rippentrop) Hippen, 79, will be held today, Thursday, February 7 at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center. Rev. William Peake will officiate. Interment will be in the Ramsey Reformed Church Cemetery,rural Titonka. Casketbearers are Travis Egesdal, Adam Rippentrop, Dustin Rippentrop, Brandon Rippentrop and Bryce Rippentrop. Honorary casketberers are Traci Williams, Tammi Crotty, Bethany Rippentrop, Jamie Johnson, Heather Rippentropand Amber Rippentrop. Organist Marlene Krull will accompany vocalist Bruce Wubben and the congregation in singing. Dorothy passed away Sunday, February 3, 2002 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Winter FuneralHome is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy (Gruis) Rippentrop Hippen was born January 31, 1923 at Buffalo Center, daughter of Herman and Grace (Meinders) Gruis. She was united in marriage to George James Rippentrop on January 17, 1946. They liven on farms in the BuffaloCenter and Titonka area. The couple was blessed with one daughter and three sons. 'Jim' passed away on March 23, 1961. After his death Dorothy and the children moved to Buffalo Center. On December 23, 1974 she married Arnold Hippen.They resided in Buffalo Center. Arnold passed away June 2, 1994. She worked at various jobs including an aide at Timely Mission Nursing Home, designed and sewed lamp shades at Great Western and later became a cabinet maker atWinnebago. She retired from Winnebago in 988. She was a member of First Reformed Church, taught Sunday School and was a Circle member. After retirement she served as a Hospice volunteer.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Judy Egesdal, of Otley; three sons: Gary and his wife, Chris, Rippentrop of DeWitt; Dennis and his wife, Cindy, Ripentrop of Charles City; Bruce and his wife, Penny, Rippentrop of Faribault, Minnesota;two stepsons: Dennis and his wife, Joan, Hippen of Clifton, Virginia; Dale Hippen of Jacksonville, Florida; stepdaughter-in-law, Susan Hippen; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Jennie (Gruis) Ricks, of Titonka;one brother, Herman and his wife, Dorothy, Gruis of Buffalo Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one stepson, Bruce; two sisters, Jennie (died as a child) and Wyona; a brother, Ben.' <>
