(From Calaveras Enterprise 17 September 2015)
Lyle Duane Bradt, of Valley Springs, passed away at his home on Sept 8 after a long illness. He was 76.
He was born June 17, 1939, in Los Angeles. After graduating from Dorsey High School in 1957, he joined the National Guard and served for six years. In 1977 Lyle married Denise McWilliams.
Bradt retired in 1999 after working 37 years in telecommunications for both Pacific Bell and Alcatel. Immediately following his retirement, he moved to Valley Springs to fulfill his life-long dream of erecting a 70-foot amateur radio tower. He was an avid ham radio operator and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
In 2014, Bradt became a volunteer for the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office and could be seen frequently at the substation in downtown Valley Springs.
In addition to his wife, Denise, Bradt is survived by his daughter Jennifer, of Valley Springs, and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Andreas. Burial will follow the funeral at Double Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Friends of the Calaveras Sheriff's Office at friendsofthecalaverassheriffsoffice.org
