Heiko made the journey across the Atlantic Ocean to America from Bellingvolde [Bellingwolde], Holland when he was four years old in 1914, with his parents, John and Everdena (Raatjes) Meyering and his brothers, Tony, Ben, John and Henry, and sister,Trena. they joined Heiko's older brother, Jerry, and sister, Minnie, who settled in Kamrar, Iowa in 1913. The tickets they used to cross the ocean were compliments of a farmer who was impressed with the work that Jerry did tiling forhim. ... Trena married Albert Boltjes and had one child named Johnnie. Later she married Carl Skilbred and had two children, Karen and Lawrence. Johnnie married Jeriena Jensen and they had five children: Henrietta, Johnnie, Ronnie, Theresa, andLaurie. They currently live in Elmore, Minnesota. ..."

"Trena Meyering Wed To Carl Skilbred
A quiet wedding was performed on Friday, April 11th, at 2:30 p. m. at the First Reformed church of Buffalo Center, when Trena Meyering became the bride of Carl Skilbred with the Rev. H. F. Senne reading the double ring ceremony.
They were attended by the bride's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Heiko Meyering.
After a short honeymoon to Williams and Blairsburg where they visited relatives, they are at home to their friends in their residence in the east part of town."

"Trena Skilbred, 76
Funeral services for Trena Skilbred, 76, of Buffalo Center were held Thursday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center with Rev. Floyd Anderson officiating. Winter Funeral Service was in charge of arrangementsand interment was in Olena Mound Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Ronnie Meyering, Johnnie Meyering, Jr., Jim Meyering, Russell Meyering, LeRoy Meyering and Henry Meyering. Mrs. August Baumann was the organist and music was by Jonathan Pilgrim.
Trena Skilbred was born September 23, 1907 to Johannes and Eberdena (Raatjes) Meyering in Bellingwolde, Holland. She came with her parents to the United States in 1914 settling first on a farm near Kamrar and later moved to a farm northof Buffalo Center. On April 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to Carl Skilbred at the Reformed Parsonage. Trena remained in her home in Buffalo Center after the death of her husband Carl in 1957. ... "Karl Skilbred Dies of Heart Attack Friday ... Karl Skilbred, son of the late Lauritz and Anna Skilbred was born at Sandnes Stavanger, Norway on October 18th, 1899. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his home town of Sandnes. He spent 8 years in the MerchantMarines before coming to the United Stales in 1929 at the age of 30. ..."

"... On April 11, 1947 he was united in marriage to Trena Meyering. To this union two children were born, Karen age 9 and Lawrence age 7. In July of 1950 he became a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Buffalo Center.
Karl passed away on last Friday morning, June 21 after suffering a heart attack, having reached the age of 57 years, 8 months and 2 days. Besides his sorrowing wife and two small children, he is mourned by his stepson, Johnnie Meyering,his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren of Elmore, Minnesota, three sisters and one brother who all reside in Norway. Also a host of relatives and friends. One brother preceded him in death. ..."

Johnnie Meyering, age 82, of Elmore, Minnesota passed away on Friday, February 29 at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmorewith Pastor Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial was in Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center. The Winter Funeral Home in Blue Earth was in charge of arrangements.
Johnnie Meyering was born on February 8, 1926 near Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Trena (Meyering) Skilbred. He attended country school. Johnnie worked on the family farm until becoming employed at Elmore Concrete. He worked therefor 35 years until he retired. He also served as a volunteer fireman for 17 years.
Johnnie married Jerena Marion Jansen on June 28, 1950 and they made their home in Elmore. This union was blessed with five children. He enjoyed camping, playing bingo, reading and watching TV. Johnnie died on February 29, 2008 at St.Lukes Lutheran Home in Blue Earth, where he had resided since October of 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Jerena; two sons, Johnnie Meyering, Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Chanhassen, MN; and Ronnie Meyering of Elmore; three daughters, Henrietta Halvorson and husband, Thomas, of Forest City, IA; Teresa Lyon and husband,Craig, of Champlin, MN; Lorie Huebert and husband, Paul, of Mankato, MN; seven grandchildren Tami Halvorson, Johnnie M. Meyering, Miranda Meyering, Jennifer Lyon, Breanna Lyon, Lorissa Huebert and Rachel Huebert; half-sister KarenPickerell and husband, Dean, of Minnetonka, MN; and half-brother, Lawrence Skilbred and wife, Pat, of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandson, Thomas Halvorson." <>
