"In 1827 Cornelius P. and Elizabeth separated, selling their property in Montgomery Co., Ky., with Elizabeth retaining 150 of 350 acres on Slate Creek. The 1830 census finds Cornelius P. Ringo in Calloway Co., Ky., and Elizabeth in Montgomery Co., Ky., with 3 male and 3 female children. The 1850 census showed her to be with her son Solomon Ringo in Montgomery Co., Ky., and the 1860 census to be with her daughter, Christina.

".....'Abraham and Sarah Harper hanks had three daughters and five sons. One daughter was Nancy who married Tom Lincoln. Her oldest brother Abraham Hanks, Jr. married Mary 'Polly' Combs in Caswell County, North Carolina. They had children there and more in then large Montgomery County, Kentucky. . . . The daughter, Dulcena, married Lewis Ringo (1D2B1B4)."
This 'Lewis Ringo, 4th child of Cornelius & Nancy Frazer Ringo, who married Dulcena Hanks, was the half-brother of Cornelius' 14th child, "Lewis Washington "Wash" Ringo, the son by Elizabeth. These two families (the Lewis') lived in Edgar Co., IL next door to each other.

"From one of his books (Adam Baber) we learn that Nancy Hanks Lincoln's sister, Sarah Hanks, married a James Hanks (2nd cousin?) and she and her son William and family also moved to Edgar Co., Ill. Sarah had married 2nd a Varvell. 'Sarah (Sally) Hanks Varvell, died in 1876 in Edgar Co., Illinois. She was known to be aged, "about 90," so born about 1788 in Campbell Co., Va. It was the family tradition . . . that she was orphaned at an early age and "farmed out" and lived with the Ringo Family.' "
I have recently found that the "Hanks" family also came from Loudon Co., VA. I wonder if Cornelius' 2nd wife, Elizabeth, could have been a "Hanks, or a Comb"?

Note: Adam Baber privately published 4 books on "Hanks" family, before his death, and placed them in the Kansas, Illinois Library and also filed data at the Illinois State Library in Springfield; he stated his "grandmother, born Hanks, knew Lewis' (Ringo) family, including Wash and Lewis."
