Oom Gerrit:
Oom Gerrit Vos heeft wel een aantal malen bij ons gelogeerd in Emmen, hij was rijk, maar ook wat rijken betaamd heel zuinig. Al heel jong is hij al naar Egypte en Jeruzalem geweest. Later woonde hij in Den Haag, maar in de oorlog is hij bij mijn oma ingetrokken met zijn gezin omdat er in het westen niets meer was te eten.
Hij was getrouwd met Jantje Santing die in Emmercompascuum was geboren en een zuster was van de vrouw van oom Cor, tante Annie Santing. Oom Cor had drie groente zaken in Den Haag, later een pension in Apeldoorn en het laatste een groente zaak in Almelo waar ze beide later ook zijn overleden.

Lucie Vos (Kleindochter van Lukas Vos) schreef:
Bij de geboorte van Gerrit A. Vos, overleed zijn moeder Albertje Scholte. Lukas Vos bracht Gerrit naar Opa Gerrit Scholte om er voor te zorgen. Bij opa Scholte woonde nog een zus van Albertje en die heeft Gerrit groot gebracht.
Toen Lukas Vos trouwde met Gezina Vos, nam Gezina 2 kinderen mee uit een eerdere huwelijk (nl Gosse Nonkes en Jan Nonkes). Maar Gerrit Vos mocht niet in het gezin opgenomen worden.
Tot Gerrit 11 jaar (1904) was heeft hij bij Opa Scholte gewoond tot deze ziek werd. Hij werd naar familie in Limburg gestuurd om het vak van Timmerman te leren.

Lucie weet nog van een evacuatie van SeinPost theater naar de Alkemadelaan in Scheveningen/DenHaag. Na 3 maanden zijn ze vertrokken naar het huisje van Opoe Gezina Vos om er bij in te wonen. Ze sliepen allemaal in dezelfde slaapkamer. Moeder Jantje Santing was een harde werkster. Na een korte ruzie zijn ze verhuisd naar tante Pietertje Vos waar ze tot na de bevrijding hebben gewoond.

Circa 1925 verhuist hij naar Den Haag, Anjelierstraat, waar hij zijn beroep voorzet.
