Hermanus Tuin overleed toen hij 18 was. In Wagenborgen (Groningen), ver weg van zijn familie in Kortenhoef. Aangezien zich daar een grote inrichting voor zwakzinnigenzorg bevond, is mijn aanname dat Hermanus daar vanwege een ernstige handicap verbleef. Een paar weken later overleed op dezelfde plaats zijn 15-jarige zus Dirkje.
