Notes about Gerrit Tuin

Gerrit Tuin jr. bouwde zijn woning in Kortenhoef in 1967 grotendeels zelf. Daarnaast bouwde hij een schuur voor de uitoefening van zijn nevenberoep als visser. Hij had de grond hiervoor van zijn vader gekocht. Gerrit ging na de lagere school zijn vader helpen met vissen, verder sneed hij ook veel ruigt en riet in de Kortenhoefse polder. Hij heeft daarnaast nog in de wegenbouw en als galvaniseur gewerkt.
Hij bleef daarnaast voor zijn hobby vissen in het Hol, achter de Kerk en in het Wijde Blick, eerst met zijn vader, later voor eigen rekening. Het viswater werd gehuurd van de polder Kortenhoef. De huur werd aangegaan voor een periode van zes jaar en de huursom was fl 23,00 per jaar. Hij had zijn karen en taanketel op een strookje grond ten zuiden van het ouderlijk huis, daar had hij ook een groentetuin (bron: boek 'Van de korenmolen tot jachthaven de Wijde Blick' [schrijver Krijn Spaan - uitgever TONK]).
