Notes about Christianus Trox

In het jaar 1689 werd Christianus Trox ingeschreven als student aan de Hogeschool te Groningen en werd kandidaat. Op 3 september 1699 werd hij de vierde Nederlands Hervormde predikant in successie te Obergum, Maarhuizen en Ranum, bij Winsum [Gr].

ntbl Wegens een door Johan Lewe uitgebracht mandaat, wordt de vereiste goedkeuring van de beroeping door de classis niet verleend. De achtergronden van deze zaak blijven onduidelijk * . Het jaar daarop wordt Hermannus Oon als predikant van Obergum, Maarhuizen en Ranum beroepen. De classis gaat op 16 maart 1669 accoord. De combinatie van de predikantsplaatsen van Obergum, Maarhuizen en Ranum heeft geduurd tot 1683, wanneer Hermannus Oon naar Niezijl vertrekt en Georgius de Jager wordt beroepen als predikant van Bellingeweer en Ranum. Hermannus Oon wordt als predikant van Obergum opgevolgd door achtereenvolgens Lambertus Fledderus en Christianus Trox. Gedurende hun ambtsperiode zijn de predikantsplaatsen en Obergum en Maarhuizen gecombineerd geweest. Na het overlijden van ds. Trox op 17 mei 1717 keurt de classis de beroeping van Gerhardus Warendorp als predikant van Maarhuizen goed. Daarmee worden de predikantsplaatsen van Winsum, waar hij in 1694 werd beroepen, en Maarhuizen gecombineerd. Hiltjo Scheltema wordt op 21 augustus 1718 als predikant van Obergum beroepen. Tot 1726 vervult hij alleen de predikantsplaats van Obergum. Na het overlijden van Gerhardus Warendorp, predikant van Winsum en Maarhuizen, wordt hij tevens te Maarhuizen beroepen. De combinatie van de predikantsplaatsen van Maarhuizen en Obergum duurt tot 1820. Ingevolge het vaker vermelde K.B. van 7 augustus 1820, nr. 35, worden dan de gemeenten Obergum, Maarhuizen en Ranum gecombineerd. Op 1 oktober 1966 volgt de combinatie WinsumObergum c.a.

«/i»Christiaen Trox en Maria Pastorius, gehuwd in 1701 te Groningen. Hij was van 1699 tot 1717 predikant te Obergum. Of ze nog meer kinderen haden zal wel altijd vaag blijven, want tussen 1702 en 1710 ontbreken alle dopen in het Doopboek van Obergum en Maarhuizen.
